Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
The MBTI is the most widely used personality inventory in the world with approximately 2,000,000 people a year taking
the assessment. It is designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world, make
decisions and evaluate their strengths. This helps them improve work and personal relationships, increase productivity,
and identify leadership and interpersonal communication preferences. Many schools use the MBTI in career counseling.
How it works
MBTI is an instrument for measuring a person’s preferences, using four basic scales with opposite poles.
The four scales are: (1) extraversion/introversion, (2) sensate/intuitive, (3) thinking/feeling,
and (4) judging/perceiving. The various combinations of these preferences result in 16 personality types.
Types are typically denoted by four letters--for example, INTJ (Introversion, Intuition with Thinking and Judging)
--to represent one’s tendencies on the four scales. A profile for each of the sixteen types has been developed.
Each profile consists of a list of characterstics frequently associated the type.
Team Building
There are a number of ways MBTI can be utilized to help build your team including improving relationships between co-workers,
improving communication and discovering team members' strengths. Depending on the size of your group and your goals
you can choose to focus on individual MBTI assessments or you can use it in conjunction with one of our innovative team
building games to examine team dynamics.
