HOLIDAY EVENTS

The Ant and the Grasshopper offers a variety of programs for the Holidays including Murder Mysteries, Dinner Theater, Theme Parties and Holiday Hunts.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

~MURDER MYSTERIES~
Some of our Murder Mysteries are designed to take place during a meal while others may be performed and played either with or without a meal. Some are written to take place in a specific type of venue such as a mansion, museum or aboard a boat, while others can performed almost anywhere. Some are period mysteries that transport your group to another time such as the Dark Ages or the Victorian period. Others have a modern day theme. Some have a definite Holiday theme while others are popular regardless of the time of year. All of our mysteries include music, comedy and plenty of audience participation. Here is a sampling of our Murder Mysteries. Don't see anything you like? We write all of our own mysteries so we can create an original one just for you. Just ask!

Corporate Killer
Our most popular mystery year round. We send you a three page questionnaire and using the information you provide us we create a mystery all about your organization and the group attending. Your guests are the suspects, detectives and witnesses that assist the detective to solve the corporate murder! Comedy, music and mystery make this a hit everytime.

Frosty the Dead Man
When the head of your HR department (Jack Frost) gets too stringent about your company's PC policy, someone shoots him to save the party! This modern day comedy Holiday mystery includes a DJ. Your group works in teams to solve the mystery.

Who the Dickens is the Killer?
The ghost of Ebenezer Stooges' partner, Jacob Barley, haunts your Christmas feast demanding to know who killed him. This comedic Dickensian murder mystery is designed to take place during a meal. Includes lots of music and comedy, and each table works in teams to solve the mystery.

Good (and dead) King Wenceslas
A medieval mystery with a wandering minstrel, a soothsayer (fortune teller) and a jester. Help the sleuthing monk, Brother Cradfile solve the assassination of Good King Wenceslas. Tables work in teams to catch the King's killer.

Murder: Now That's Entertainment!
A murder mystery and a variety show in one! Several different performers show up on the same night for the same gig... your function! When the performers' agent arrives to sort things out someone shoots the agent. This mystery works well for larger groups. Tables work in teams to catch the killer. Anyone not wieshing to participate in the mystery will still be entertained by the variety show.

To Kill a Spy
Unlike any other, this highly interactive mystery is also a game of espionage. This one works well year round for any group looking for something more involving! You aren't watching a mystery you are IN the mystery. Before this mystery is over you'll be stirred but not shaken.

~DINNER THEATER~
Some of our Dinner Theater is written to be performed throughout the meal while others are performed either before or after dinner or lunch.

Christmas in Killarney
An absolute delight this show has charm, music and laughter! An Irish Christmas hosted by Father Blarney. While his tales may be tall they are no less entertaining. This event includes live music, plenty of comedy and lots of audience participation as audience members are encouraged to get up and share their most memorable Christmas... from the sublime (the last time the whole family was able to get together) to the ridiculous (the time Uncle Freddie set the tree on fire!). Bring your own story and share it with the group. Groups on a tight budget should be able to have a Holiday party too, so we have written a two-man version of this show with a comedian and a musician. Happy Holidays Irish style!

The Revolutionary Christmas
The year is 1776 and your group are all members of the Army of the Continental Congress gathered in the mess hall for a Holiday dinner. This hilarious Holiday feast, designed to take place throughout a meal, is full of music, comedy and audience participation. Three cheers for the Revolution! Three cheers for America! And three cheers for the Holidays!

Holiday Game Show
All of America loves TV game shows! As this show is highly interactive and has your group getting up to play in teams it is best performed either before or after the meal. If you have the budget we will even include a live band and the category, "Name That Tune!"

The Victorian Christmas
For slightly more refined groups this charming Holiday party includes carollers, a reading by Charles Dickens and some delightful Victorian parlor games. It's an enchanted trip back in time.

~THEME PARTIES~
We have a variety of entertaining Holiday Theme Parties for groups both large and small. Some designed for more refined groups while others are designed for groups that want to cut loose. Some make specific reference to Chrsitmas while others are more inclusive and refer to the "Holiday" season. All of our events have several commonalities: they are fun and utilize play; they are appropriate for a corporate environment; and they are all designed to get your group mixing and interacting with one another. Here is a sampling of some of our most popular Holiday Theme Parties.

Court of Good King Wenceslas
This medieval party can be adapted to groups as few as 60 persons and as large as 600 persons. It includes games, a variety of performers incuding the court wizard, the court jester, the court soothsayer and a wandering minstrel. For larger groups the Mintsrels Three play several of their medieval hits including that knee-slapping tune that gets everyone chanting "Gregorian Chant No. 12". Why there's even a Jousting Match! Join the Court of Good Wenceslas and celebrate the Feast of Stephen in royal style.

Jingle Bell Rock
A Rock N' Roll Holiday Party Sock Hop with a live band, dancing, a twist competition, a hula hoop competition, a Fifties Trivia Game, prizes and more!

Grinchly Party
The Grinchly Party is specially designed for larger groups (100 +) Your group is entertained by the inhabitants of Who-Ville. It includes games, a variety of performers including magicians, jugglers, stilt walkers, a live band, and more. The entire event is hosted by the Mayor of Who-Ville. And of course the party will be crashed by the Grinch himself.

~HOLIDAY HUNTS~
For groups hardy enough to brave the cold or for groups holding their Holiday party in warner climes we have a unique way to celebrate.... a Holiday Hunt!

The Whoville Hunt The Grinch has stolen the presents from every “Who down in Who-ville”. Your job is to locate the stolen presents and bring them in back in order to save Christmas. The team that returns with the most presents wins. This company Christmas hunt is filled with fun challenges and zany Who-characters.

The Christmas Carol Hunt
Another truly unique idea for your comapny's Christmas party. Your group is divided into teams and sent searching for the characters from Charles Dickens "Christmas Carol", each of whom has a task for them to perform that will be fun, challenging and build Christmas spirit. This hunt list includes both challenges AND digital photos. The hunt ends with Victorian costumed carollers, hot toddies and... a digital slide-show so that all the teams may share their adventures while on their Christmas Carol Hunt.
